Decisionism: "I am a Christian the moment I identify myself as one"
The liberal theology of salvation by personal decision, or "decisionism," preached as truth in almost all of the modern-day churches today, poisons the congregation with their liberal ideology that "I am a Christian the moment I identify myself as one," and they support their theology with Romans 10:9:
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
Decisionism teaches that the moment a person says a sinner's prayer or perform some other Christian acts, it is taken as equivalent to the miracle of inward conversion. That person is considered saved. But, is that person really saved in the eyes of the LORD?
This phrase "eyes of the LORD" is found exactly 22 times in the 1611 King James Bible, the same number of time the phrase “the will of God” is found in the same Holy Bible. The first occurrence of the phrase "eyes of the LORD" is found in Genesis 6:8 "But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD."
Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
God was pleased with Noah because he saw faith in him (Hebrews 11:7), not that Noah did anything to merit God's blessing, but it was by God's grace and his grace alone. It is part of the mystery of the kingdom of God.
Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."
It was God who saves a sinner by his grace, and the reason why God saved Noah and his family was because he saw faith. It was never by what that sinner performs that he somehow merits the grace of God. Rather, God delights in faith, for without faith, it is impossible to please him.
Faith is faith in the word of God. Faith does not arise because one utters a sinner's prayer or perform some other Christian acts. It is a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22). It is the Spirit of God that produce faith in a believer's life, not the works of man, lest any man should boast.
Matthew 12:33 "… for the tree is known by his fruit."
A possessor of true salvation is known by his fruit. He is known by his faith in every word of God in the things that he do, because it is the faith in him that produce the works. That, is the sure mark of a true convert.
