Job 36: Kings in Fetters (Part 12)
We continue from where we stopped at Part 11 of this series of message, where we studied the verse:
Job 36:13 "But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them."
In fact, we’re still not done with this verse yet, as we’ve only looked at what the Bible have taught us about “hypocrites” i.e. what they are, and who they are. First and foremost, hypocrites are those who will forget God. That means they used to know God, but along the way they will forget him. Their so-called “faith” will not last. We’ve also studied this verse in part:
Psalms 9:17 "The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God."
This is where we connect the hypocrites to “the wicked” and every nation that forget God. Every hypocrite shall be turned into hell according to this verse, and that is also to say that this group of sinners are not born again believers. They heap up the wrath of God according to Job 36:13. We’ve also looked at the scribes and the Pharisees last week, a group of religious people along with the Sadduccees, whom Jesus referred to as hypocrites.
Matthew 3:7-9 "¶ But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 8 Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: 9 And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham."
Notice that in this passage, John the Baptist referred to the Pharisees and the Sadduccees as “trees” in telling them to bring forth fruits meet for repentance. This goes along with what we’ve studied where I’ve demonstrated from Scripture that the word of God sown in the Type 2 heart will produce hypocrites out of those “stony ground” hearts. Christians with this type of heart are as the Pharisees and the Sadduccees that can never bring forth fruits meet for repentance. The keyword here is “repentance”. This is where we know that a hypocrite can never truly repent. Back to the verse:
Job 36:13 "But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them."
Because those hypocrites in heart would not repent while still referring to themselves as Christians (sons of God), they heap up the wrath of God upon them. The gospel of John tells us in:
John 3:36 "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."
This verse shows us that the hypocrites in heart, those Christians with Type 2 “stony ground” hearts, do not believe on the Son of God even though they will claim they do. Like the scribes and the Pharisees, they may look like good godly Christians on the outside, but inwardly they believeth not the Son of God.
Matthew 23:25-28 "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. 26 Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also. 27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness. 28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity."
Jesus tells us this passage what a hypocrite is about. A hypocrite will pretend. Once, I had a Christian who came to me pretending to ask me a question about the King James Bible, but his hidden agenda was to prove that the King James Bible has mistakes, and is therefore not infallible, and not exactly holy and true. I offered him an explanation, but he refused it, argued with me over it, and left the conversation altogether. It was not in his heart to sought me about the Bible on the first place. He only pretended to come to me, and when I gave him the Scriptures, immediately he was offended and “fall away”.
Luke 8:13 "They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away."
This is an example of a Type 2 “stony ground” heart Christian who outwardly appear righteous before men, but inwardly is full of hypocrisy and iniquity. I believe there are many such Christians out there, people who refer to themselves as “sons of God” but inwardly hate the word of God because it does not go along with their doctrines and what they believe in their stony ground hearts. The word of God does not change them, and they will never repent at the word of God.
Psalms 95:7-8 "For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice, 8 Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness:"
The psalmist by inspiration of the Holy Ghost referred to the day when the children of Israel was made to wander for forty years in the wilderness as “the day of temptation”, and that is in:
Numbers 14:33 "And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness."
The “day of temptation” in Psalms 95:7-8 bears a connection to the “time of temptation” in Luke 8:13. The context of Numbers 14:33 was when Moses sent out the twelve spies to spy the land of Canaan, but out of the twelve, only Joshua and Caleb believed in the words of the LORD and sought to enter the land by faith. The other ten spies walked by sight and not by faith. They saw the giants in the land and were afraid. They believed not the words of the LORD, and their evil reports caused the children of Israel to be afraid and they began to murmur against the LORD and against Moses and Aaron. The children of Israel rather go along with the majority and their evil reports. They rather reject the words of the LORD and sought not to enter into the land flowing with milk and honey, indirectly calling God a liar. That was when God made them wander in the wilderness for the next forty years, until the carcases of those aged twenty and above be wasted in the wilderness, as in:
Numbers 14:32 "But as for you, your carcases, they shall fall in this wilderness."
Notice the word “fall” in this verse? Carcases are dead things, and they will fall. This is not only a connection to the “fall away” in Luke 8:13, but more significantly, it is prophetic of the “falling away” which is to come, as in:
2 Thessalonians 2:1-3 "Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;"
The hypocrites in heart shall “fall away” before the great and notable day of the Lord come, and none of these shall enter into the promised land. The dead must prophetically fall away first, and the man of sin be revealed, before they which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord can be gathered together unto him (rapture), and there will be no exception. This goes along with the Parable of the Tares and the Wheat where Jesus said in:
Matthew 13:30 "Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn."
Notice that the tares is to be gathered first before the wheat? Every single hypocrite in heart must fall away first, prophetically speaking, before the great and notable day of the Lord come and before the rapture can take place, and there will be no “secret rapture” to rescue them.
Job 15:34 "For the congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery."
The congregation of hypocrites is a reference to the congregation of those who shall fall away before the great and notable day of the Lord come. Their end is that their carcases will be consumed by fire in the lake of fire, where they shall be burned for ever and ever.
Isaiah 66:24 "And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh."
This verse gives us a glimpse of the lake of fire and that which has been prepared for the hypocrites in heart. We shall continue with Part 13 in the next part of this series of messages.
