Paul warns us against infiltration of the church by false brethren.
Acts 20:29-30 "For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. 30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them."
Galatians 2:4 "And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:"
In Pharaoh King of Egypt (Part 11), I have given details of how an altered version of Christianity, called American Christianity, has infiltrated the local churches all over the world, and corrupted their teachings. The hidden agenda was to create a pro-Zionist subculture within Christianity and corrupts it from within, just like cancer. Cancer is the result of one cell's DNA becoming corrupt. Once that cell begins to replicate, the cancer tumor grows, and consumes the healthy tissues around it.
2 Timothy 2:17-18 "And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; 18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some."
The same applies to evil words that "eat as doth a canker." Those would be the false bibles and false prophets whose words would eat as doth a canker. Notice in verse 18 how the words of Hymenaeus and Philetus who said that the "resurrection is past already" had overthrew the faith of some? In today’s context, those would be the dispensationalists or preterists whose words, according to verse 17 "will eat as doth a canker." Canker is another word for cancer. Just like cancer, cancerous words will corrupt the faith of those who believe in cancerous doctrines.
Hebrews 6:1-3 "Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, 2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3 And this will we do, if God permit."
The doctrine of Christ is a system of doctrine which comprise of:
repentance from dead works;
faith toward God;
doctrine of baptisms;
laying on of hands;
resurrection of the dead; and
eternal judgment
The writer of Hebrews calls those doctrines “foundation” in verse 1. Notice the resurrection of the dead is listed among one of the foundation doctrines of Christ. It is one of the "foundations" of the gospel of Jesus Christ, as in:
Luke 6:46-49 "¶ And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? 47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: 48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. 49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great."
Doctrine matters. A born again believer will built his faith upon “foundation” supported by the Rock their salvation, Jesus Christ, whose work is perfect, for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right. (Deuteronomy 32:4; 1 Corinthians 10:4) Other Christians will built their faith upon the earth. Without support from the Rock, it cannot stand.
Ephesians 4:14 "That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;"
Therefore, those would be the Christians easily tossed to and fro, being carried about with every wind of doctrine. To them, their ultimate authority is not in the 66 books of the word of God, but something which they perceive to be higher and bigger than God himself, by which the word of God may be over-ruled. So, we see how the Devil is so keen to destroy the “foundation” doctrines by his false doctrines.
2 Timothy 4:3-4 "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables."
Doctrine is processed information from the laws of the LORD. It is supposed to make the law of God palatable for the hearers. The term "sound doctrine" means doctrines which are established from knowledge of the word of God, here a little and there a little, precept upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, and line upon line. The opposite of sound doctrine would be teachings of man which may appear that they come from the Bible, but are not.
Titus 1:9 "Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers."
According to Paul in 2 Timothy 4:3-4, some people find it hard to endure sound doctrine. For this reason, they turned to the teachings of man which sounded like they came from the Holy Bible, and it sounded good to them. These are the Christians who won't search the scripture, but would rather blindly accept those teachings of man as truth from the Bible, simply because they sounded good to their itching ears, not because they came from the word of God.
2 Thessalonians 2:10-11 "And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:"
Christians who will be tossed to and fro, being carried about with every wind of doctrine do not have the love of the truth on the first place, for if they have the love of the truth, they will by the love of the truth endure sound doctrine. For this reason, God has sent them strong delusion, so that they should believe in a lie. To them, it doesn't matter what the Bible says, so long as it sounded good to their itching ears, that would be the truth for them. The underlying truth in all these is the absence of the love of the truth. These Christians are not possessors of an "honest and good heart," (Luke 8:15) without which, one cannot be saved.
“Does it matter how you believe the rapture is going to happen?”
"It does not matter if Christians do or do not believe in the pre-tribulation rapture, it's not a salvation issue."
Have you ever come across those well-meaning words? First and foremost, who told them that this is not a salvation issue? Where do they get it from? Did it come from the 66 books of the Holy Bible? In fact, those who tell you that it does not matter what you believe about the rapture are like the new-agers who tell you that it does not matter what you believe in, but you are still going to heaven regardless. Christians who teach this kind of things have not the love of the truth in themselves, yet they teach others the same, just like the scribes and the Pharisees in this verse:
Matthew 23:13-15 "But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in… 15 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves."
Notice how the scribes and the Pharisees who taught false doctrines to their disciples, putting stumbling blocks in their paths, made it twice as hard for them to enter into the kingdom of heaven? Likewise, Christians and pastors in Pharisaical churches of today also do the same by telling people that it is not a salvation issue how they believe the resurrection of the dead is going to happen. Jesus calls them "hypocrites." One of the things about hypocrites is that they will pretend. They will pretend that it's okay and you don't have to believe what the Bible tells you about how the rapture is going to happen, and you're still going to heaven for rejecting what has been plainly laid out in the words of the Lord in Matthew 24:29-31 and Mark 13:24-27.
Recall what happened in the garden of Eden:
Genesis 3:4-5 "And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil."
Compare the words of those well-meaning Christians and pastors to the words of the serpent in the garden of Eden. While God has said with no uncertain terms that the penalty of taking from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil is certain death (Genesis 2:17), the serpent reinterpreted it to the woman and caused her to think that it is perfectly safe to reject God’s words and it carries no penalty. Eve might be thinking: “Oh, God didn’t really meant what he said in Genesis 2:17.”
Genesis 2:17 "But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."
Likewise for these well-meaning words: “It doesn’t matter how you believe the rapture is going to happen. It’s not a salvation issue.” These are words that will eat as doth a canker. These are words that promise safety when it is not, because it is not safe for someone to reject what God has plainly said in Matthew 24:29-31 and Mark 13:24-27, or to think that those words may be subjected to personal interpretation and it carries no penalty whatsoever because it is not a salvation issue. When it comes to the words of the LORD in the 66 books of the Holy Bible, it is either you believe all of it or you believe none of it. Well, was it an issue of life and death in the case of Adam and Eve? The answer is a most definite ‘Yes.’ In fact, every word of God matters if you are a born again believer with the love of the truth in you. But of course, if you have not the love of the truth in you, then these things won't bother you. To continue in Part 13.
