This post continues from where I have left off at Pharaoh King of Egypt (Part 34), where I have shown from scripture the hypocrisy of Esau, and linked that to the hypocritical nature of “that Wicked,” that man of sin, the son of perdition in 2 Thessalonians 2:3-8, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming.
Genesis 3:15 "And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel."
The enmity between the Devil and his children, and Jesus Christ and the church will be fully played out in the end of the world between two nations and two manner of people: Esau and Jacob. In the meantime, the secret war waged by Esau against his brother Jacob will continue, leading up to the mark of the beast. I have covered much of this in the earlier posts of this long series of messages. Who is Esau? The bible tells us:
Genesis 25:30 "And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom."
Genesis 36:1 "Now these are the generations of Esau, who is Edom."
Esau was also known as Edom: his descendants were called Edomites.
Jeremiah 49:20-22 "Therefore hear the counsel of the LORD, that he hath taken against Edom; and his purposes, that he hath purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make their habitations desolate with them. 21 The earth is moved at the noise of their fall, at the cry the noise thereof was heard in the Red sea. 22 Behold, he shall come up and fly as the eagle, and spread his wings over Bozrah: and at that day shall the heart of the mighty men of Edom be as the heart of a woman in her pangs."
This passage of scripture was God’s judgment against Edom, and the purpose he has purposed against the Edomites. The words I have highlighted in this passage of scripture are “at that day shall the heart of the mighty men of Edom be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.” According to verse 21, that day is a day where Edom will fall, and it will be characterized by a noise so great that it can be heard in the Red sea. Notice in verse 20 the words “surely the least of the flock shall draw them out?” The word “flock” tells us that the gathering of God’s people was what Edom was watching in the secret to attack. Jeremiah use the words “draw them out” to describe how God will use his holy people as a bait to draw Edom out into the open, for to destroy them. Link this to:
Revelation 16:13-16 "And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. 15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame. 16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon."
Apostle John tells us that the Devil will mobilise three unclean spirits like frogs, the spirits of devils, which will go forth to gather “the kings of the earth and of the whole world” into a place called in the Hebrew tongue “Armageddon” to the battle in the great and notable day of the LORD. This passage of scripture is a reference to:
Revelation 6:15-17 "And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; 16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: 17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?"
Therefore, “the kings of the earth and of the whole world” would be included in what Revelation 6:15 calls “the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondmen, and every free man.” They would be drawn out by the spirits of devils into a place called in the Hebrew tongue, Armageddon, to the battle in the great and notable day of the LORD thinking that they are going to destroy God’s holy people, not knowing that it is going to be a trap that God has prepared for them, for to destroy them. Notice that they would hide themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains? Jeremiah 49:22 tells us that “at that day shall the heart of the mighty men of Edom be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.” The prelude to Revelation 6:15-17 tells us something about “that day” when God shall destroy Esau.
Revelation 6:12-14 "And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; 13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. 14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places."
In fact, we also read the same descriptions in:
Ezekiel 32:2-8 "Son of man, take up a lamentation for Pharaoh king of Egypt, and say unto him… 7 And when I shall put thee out, I will cover the heaven, and make the stars thereof dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give her light. 8 All the bright lights of heaven will I make dark over thee, and set darkness upon thy land, saith the Lord GOD."
This passage of scripture was Ezekiel taking up a lamentation against “Pharaoh king of Egypt,” and the Holy Ghost pointing that to what Jeremiah calls “the mighty men of Edom” in Jeremiah 49:22 or what Apostle John calls “the kings of the earth and of the whole world” in Revelation 16:14. In that day, God will cover the heaven, and make the stars thereof dark. This is that day which Isaiah calls “the day of the LORD:”
Isaiah 13:9-10 "Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it. 10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine."
Apostle John calls it “that great day of God Almighty” in Revelation 16:14 and “the great day of his wrath” in Revelation 6:17. In that day shall the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her lights to shine. As what I have shared in the earlier part of this post, the day of the LORD will be precipitated by the kings of the earth who will lead an army against God’s holy people. That will be God using his holy people as a bait to draw them out, to gather them to the battle of the Armageddon. Jeremiah used the words as highlighted in this verse:
Jeremiah 49:20 "Therefore hear the counsel of the LORD, that he hath taken against Edom; and his purposes, that he hath purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make their habitations desolate with them."
The words “surely the least of the flock shall draw them out” in Jeremiah 49:20 is a reference to how God will draw out the mighty men of Edom just like how he will draw out the leviathan:
Job 41:1-2 "Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down? 2 Canst thou put an hook into his nose? or bore his jaw through with a thorn?"
God will use a “hook” to draw out the kings of the earth and the rulers of this world to the battle of the Armageddon. As what I have shared in Pharaoh King of Egypt (Part 1), the leviathan is a reference to Pharaoh king of Egypt and Gog of Ezekiel 38, 39. This is that Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal who has been spying on God’s people in secret, and waiting for an opportune time to launch an attack.
Ezekiel 38:10-12 "Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought: 11 And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates, 12 To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land."
This passage of scripture tells us that the opportune time will come when God’s people will be dwelling together in false peace and safety, and that will be the time when Gog shall come with his army consisting of what Apostle John describes in Revelation 6:15 “the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondmen, and every free man.” Those would be what Ezekiel tells us in:
Ezekiel 38:3-6 "And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal: 4 And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords: 5 Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet: 6 Gomer, and all his bands; the house of Togarmah of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many people with thee."
Gog’s mighty army, which Jeremiah 49:22 calls “the mighty men of Edom,” will come from Meshech, Tubal, Persia, Ethiopia and Libya, joined by Gomer and all his bands, and the house of Togarmah of the north quarters, and all his bands. The following verse tells us:
Ezekiel 38:9 "Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee."
When God’s holy people shalt be gathered together and dwelling in false peace and safety, Gog and his army shalt ascend and come like a storm, like a cloud to cover the land. The attack will be very swift and sudden. This is just like what happened to the children of Israel when they finally made their way out of Egypt, encamped by the Red Sea:
Exodus 14:8-9 "And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel: and the children of Israel went out with an high hand. 9 But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pi–hahiroth, before Baal–zephon."
God was the one who hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, in causing him to pursue after the children of Israel. Likewise, God will be the one who will draw Gog and his army to the battle of the Armageddon, using God’s holy people as the bait.
Exodus 15:9 "The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my lust shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them."
This verse calls Pharaoh king of Egypt as “the enemy.” The Egyptians led by Pharaoh king of Egypt pursued after the children of Israel with the horses and the chariots and the horsemen and the army is just like how Gog will lead a great army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords against God’s holy people. There are more than two places in the bible referring to the enemy of God’s people:
Esther 3:10 "And the king took his ring from his hand, and gave it unto Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the Jews’ enemy."
Esther 8:1 "On that day did the king Ahasuerus give the house of Haman the Jews’ enemy unto Esther the queen. And Mordecai came before the king; for Esther had told what he was unto her."
Esther 9:10 "The ten sons of Haman the son of Hammedatha, the enemy of the Jews, slew they; but on the spoil laid they not their hand."
This is the Jews’ enemy who said in Exodus 15:9 “I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my lust shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.” Esther identifies the enemy as Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite. Agag is a title for the king of the Amalekites (1 Samuel 15:8; 1 Samuel 15:20), and Amalek is of the lineage of Esau. I have written on this topic in Pharaoh King of Egypt (Part 2), where I have linked the Amalekites to the Hyksos of Egypt.
Ezekiel 39:11 "¶ And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will give unto Gog a place there of graves in Israel, the valley of the passengers on the east of the sea: and it shall stop the noses of the passengers: and there shall they bury Gog and all his multitude: and they shall call it The valley of Hamon–gog."
Ezekiel 39:15 "And the passengers that pass through the land, when any seeth a man’s bone, then shall he set up a sign by it, till the buriers have buried it in the valley of Hamon–gog."
After the battle of Armageddon, Gog and his mighty army shall be destroyed and God shall give them a place of burial called “the valley of Hamon-gog.” The word “Hamon” is a reference to Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, king of the Amalekites and the Jews’ enemy (Esther 3:10, 8:1), while “gog” is Gog of Ezekiel 38, 39. God will draw out the enemy using his holy people to destroy them, and this is even evident in the story of Esther where God used the Jews to draw out the house of Haman, the Jew’s enemy, to destroy them. That will also happen in the day of the Lord as prophesied, when the transgressors are come to the full (Daniel 8:23), after the mark of the beast has been implemented.
Revelation 13:16-17 "And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: 17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name."
Why will the mark of the beast be implemented? Is it because the Devil can't tell who God's people are among the nations, or it is a way he use to single them out? No doubt the Devil is after God's chosen people, but God's people are mingled among the nations. Just like in the parable of the wheat and the tares. Even the servants can't tell the differences between the wheat and the tares until the harvest time. That means that even angels can't see the “hidden man of the heart” (1 Peter 3:4) in a person. This knowledge is hidden from them. It only belongs to God alone, and the mystery will be revealed in time, those who truly are God's chosen and those who are not. God’s chosen are “born of God:”
1 John 3:9 "Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God."
1 John 5:4 "For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith."
I believe many Christians will take the mark of the beast. Only those who are truly born of God (“born again”) will never do that. Hence, when the mark of the beast shall be implemented, they will be separated out from the rest of the world by that mark. Afterwards, Gog (Amalek of Esau) will lead an army to destroy them, which then precipitates the Lord's second coming. In fact, this is just like how the children of Israel (plus the “strangers” with them) that were exodused out of Egypt, and Pharaoh King of Egypt led an army against them from behind. Born again gentile believers are the “strangers” who sojourned with the children of Israel. Together, they are God’s chosen people.
Matthew 11:19 "… But wisdom is justified of her children."
The children of wisdom (the church) will be justified by their works in following after wisdom, and in doing the will of God embedded in the 66 books of the Holy Bible. By the divine wisdom they have received from the Spirit of God, God’s holy people know to do the will of God the Father. They could see the promised land beyond the Red Sea, but they know they must “through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.” (Acts 14:22) To continue in Part 36.
Isaiah 39:9-10 also link to Matthew 24:29-30 KJVS
Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: [30] And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
