I would like to continue from where I’ve stopped in Pharaoh King of Egypt (Part 3), where I’ve shown from scripture how the book of Esther is a foreshadow of Amalek’s rise to power to his utter destruction in the latter end. I’ve also demonstrated from scripture how Gog is “he of whom I have spoken in old time by my servants the prophets of Israel” (Ezekiel 38:17). Ezekiel continues in the next verse:
Ezekiel 38:18 "And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, that my fury shall come up in my face."
This verse tells us that Gog shall come against the land of Israel. We read from Ezekiel 38:10-11 that an evil thought shall come to his mind, and it shall cause him to go up to the land of unwalled villages, to attack the people of Israel dwelling without walls, having neither bars nor gates to take a spoil and to take a prey of God’s chosen, just like how Amalek attacked the children of Isreal in Rephidim in Exodus 17. That was when fury shall come up in God’s face.
Ezekiel 38:19 "For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken, Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel;"
God’s wrath will be kindled against Gog (Amalek) in the day of his wrath, and there will be a great shaking in the land of Israel. Isaiah gives us more details about the same event in this passage of scripture:
Isaiah 34:2 "For the indignation of the LORD is upon all nations, and his fury upon all their armies: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter."
The indignation of the LORD is upon Gog and his armies from all nations, when they shall come against God’s people as a cloud to cover the land. Unbeknownst to Gog, however, it was God who brought him against his people, for to deliver him and his armies to the slaughter.
Ezekiel 38:20 "So that the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the field, and all creeping things that creep upon the earth, and all the men that are upon the face of the earth, shall shake at my presence, and the mountains shall be thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground."
This verse tells us that every creature and “all men that are upon the face of the earth” shall feel the earthquake, and the mountains shall be thrown down, and there will be landslides and glaciers calving, and buildings collapsing, etc, at the day when Gog and all his armies shall come against God’s chosen. Compare this to:
Revelation 6:12-13 "And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; 13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind."
Apostle John tells us that in the day when Jesus shall open the sixth seal, and there shall be a great earthquake, and the sun shall become as sackcloth, and the moon as blood, and the stars shall fall to the earth. Isaiah tells us in this passage of scripture:
Isaiah 13:9-13 "Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it. 10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine… 13 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger."
Therefore the day when Gog shall come against God’s chosen people in the land of Israel, is the day when Jesus shall open the sixth seal, and Isaiah calls it “the day of the LORD.” In verse 13, Isaiah confirms with Revelation 6:12 and Ezekiel 38:19-20 that God will shake the heavens, and the earth shall be remove out of her place. Moreover, that shall be signs in the heavens signifying the opening of the sixth seal and the day of the LORD. Connect this to:
Isaiah 34:4 "And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree."
Revelation 6:13-14 "And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. 14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places."
Jesus tells us in Matthew 24:32 to “learn a parable of the fig” to know when all the things he prophesied regarding the end of the world shall come to pass according to scripture. The day of the LORD will be a day cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate, and God shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it, like what he did to Sodom and Gomorrah. Referring to Pharaoh king of Egypt (Amalek, Hyksos):
Ezekiel 32:7-8 "And when I shall put thee out, I will cover the heaven, and make the stars thereof dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give her light. 8 All the bright lights of heaven will I make dark over thee, and set darkness upon thy land, saith the Lord GOD."
Both Isaiah 13:9-10 and Ezekiel 32:7-8 are also a reference to the end time passages in Matthew 24:29, Mark 13:24-25 and Luke 21:25 where the same details were provided:
the stars of heaven and the constellations shall not give their lights.
the sun shall be darkened.
the moon shall not cause her light to shine.
Moreover, scripture also tells us that all these things will only take place “immediately after the tribulation of those days.” (Matthew 24:29) Therefore, the day of the LORD and the opening of the sixth seal will only happen after God’s chosen people shall undergo a period of great tribulation “such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.” (Matthew 24:20) Ezekiel continues in the next verse:
Ezekiel 38:21 "And I will call for a sword against him throughout all my mountains, saith the Lord GOD: every man’s sword shall be against his brother."
This verse tells us how Gog and his armies shall be destroyed. Basically, it will be just like how the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir which came against Judah:
2 Chronicles 20:23-24 "For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another. 24 And when Judah came toward the watch tower in the wilderness, they looked unto the multitude, and, behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and none escaped."
Though the details did not specify, the “inhabitants of mount Seir” refers to the Amalekites which escaped to mount Seir after they were persecuted by king Saul (1 Samuel 15:1-5; 1 Chronicles 4:42-43). In the case of 2 Chronicles 20:23-24, God turned the children of Ammon and Moab against Amalek. In Ezekiel 38:21, God too, will turn Gog’s armies against themselves, and they will fight among themselves until their dead bodies be fallen to the earth, and none shall escape.
Isaiah 34:5 "For my sword shall be bathed in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Idumea, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment."
Idumea is new Edom, and the Amalekites being descendants of Esau were in fact Edomites. In Isaiah 34:5, God calls them “the people of my curse.” It also tells us that sword of the LORD shall come down upon Gog and his armies in Edom. Isaiah continues:
Isaiah 34:6-8 "The sword of the LORD is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, and with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams: for the LORD hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Idumea… 8 For it is the day of the LORD’S vengeance, and the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion."
The day of the LORD and the opening of the sixth seal will be marked by a great slaughter in the land of Idumea, for the sword of the LORD is filled with the blood of lambs and goats. Ezekiel further tells us:
Ezekiel 38:22 "And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone."
God will plead against Gog (Amalek) with pestilence and with blood in the land of Idumea, and he will rain upon him and his armies with an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire and brimstone, and none shall escape until their dead bodies be fallen to the earth. It is the day of the LORD’s vengeance against Gog (Amalek) and his armies, the people of his curse.
Referring to Gog and his armies:
Ezekiel 39:4 "Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands, and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured."
Gog and his armies shall fall upon the mountains of Israel, and God shall give him unto the birds of the air and the beasts of the field to be devoured. Referring to Pharaoh king of Egypt (Amalek, Hkysos, Gog):
Ezekiel 29:5 "And I will leave thee thrown into the wilderness, thee and all the fish of thy rivers: thou shalt fall upon the open fields; thou shalt not be brought together, nor gathered: I have given thee for meat to the beasts of the field and to the fowls of the heaven."
Likewise, Pharaoh king of Egypt shall fall upon the open fields, and God has given him to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field to be devoured. Again, referring to Pharaoh king of Egypt (Amalek, Hyksos, Gog) and the company of many people with him:
Ezekiel 32:3-4 "Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will therefore spread out my net over thee with a company of many people; and they shall bring thee up in my net. 4 Then will I leave thee upon the land, I will cast thee forth upon the open field, and will cause all the fowls of the heaven to remain upon thee, and I will fill the beasts of the whole earth with thee."
This passage is God repeating what he said he will do to Pharaoh king of Egypt (Amalek, Hyksos) in Ezekiel 29:5. In fact, all these are pointing to the same event as prophesied in:
Revelation 19:17-18 "And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; 18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great."
The dead bodies of Gog and his armies are the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and the flesh of the riders, and them flesh of “all men, both free and bond, both small and great,” a phrase which ties in with:
Revelation 13:16-17 "And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: 17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name."
Those would be the men who have received a mark in their right hand or in their foreheads, and they would be among the dead bodies of Gog and his armies, when Christ shall return to smite the nations with a sharp sword that goeth out of his mouth according to Revelation 19:11-16. John also tells us in Revelation 19:7 that the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife (the church) hath made herself ready, and this is the event which precipitates Christ’s return to the earth, for to receive her as his bride. Going back to Ezekiel 39:
Ezekiel 39:2 "And I will turn thee back, and leave but the sixth part of thee, and will cause thee to come up from the north parts, and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel:"
As with Amalek, Gog's destruction was foretold. The entire of Gog except for a sixth part will be destroyed, but God shall leave but a sixth part of Gog which he shall deal with at the end of the millennium according to Revelation 20:7-9.
Ezekiel 39:11-16 "¶ And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will give unto Gog a place there of graves in Israel, the valley of the passengers on the east of the sea: and it shall stop the noses of the passengers: and there shall they bury Gog and all his multitude: and they shall call it The valley of Hamon–gog… 15 And the passengers that pass through the land, when any seeth a man’s bone, then shall he set up a sign by it, till the buriers have buried it in the valley of Hamon–gog. 16 And also the name of the city shall be Hamonah. Thus shall they cleanse the land."
The valley of Hamon-gog is the place where Gog and all his armies shall be buried. “Hamon” is a reference to Haman the Agagite, king of the Amalekites and the Jews’ enemy (Esther 3:10), while “gog” is Gog of Ezekiel 38 and 39. Recall in Part 2 how Hyksos kings were called “A-gog” based on the research of Immanuel Velikovsky. In fact, the valley of Hamon-gog is a reference to:
Revelation 16:14-16 "For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty… 16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon."
The “kings of the earth” is a reference to Gog and his armies, and they shall be gathered to the battle of that great day of the God Almighty, the day of the LORD, into a place called Armageddon, which according to Ezekiel 39, is the valley of Hamon-gog. In fact, the word “Armageddon” is a reference to:
Zechariah 12:11 "In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon."
Prophet Zechariah also prophesied about the day of the LORD in:
Zechariah 14:1-3 "Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. 2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. 3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle."
As with Ezekiel 38, God shall gather “all nations” (Gog and his armies) against the people of Israel to fight against them, and it shall come to pass when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, that God’s fury shall be kindled against Gog, and then the LORD shall go forth and fight against Gog and his armies. I shall continue more with this series of messages in Part 5.
