The word of God must be understood like what Isaiah said in this verse:
Isaiah 28:10 "For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:"
The understanding of the word of God must come precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little, with help from the Holy Ghost. This would not be possible if one reads from a false bible, because when words are added or taken away from the word of God, it will also change the basic precepts by which one's understanding is formed.
Precepts are like the building blocks of our understanding. If the building blocks don't fit together seamlessly, one with another, they cannot be used to build something greater. Think about using those "faulty" precepts as building blocks. If one were to forcefully stack those "faulty" blocks of precepts together, precept upon precept, eventually, the whole building will collapse. That's what the Devil wants to see happen to the church. He wants the church to implode from within. That's why the real Holy Bible (the 1611 King James Bible) is constantly under attack.
Amos 7:7-9 "¶ Thus he shewed me: and, behold, the Lord stood upon a wall made by a plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand. 8 And the LORD said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more: 9 And the high places of Isaac shall be desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword."
Notice in this passage the Lord stood upon a wall made by a plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand? What is a plumbline used for? For those in the construction business, they would know what a plumbline is. Without a plumbline, we cannot build a house. We need the plumbline to tell us whether the blocks are accurately laid. Precepts are the building blocks of our understanding of the word of God. What is guiding us in the building of our understanding in the word of God?
Isaiah 28:10 "For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:"
Notice it is "precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line," much like how a builder lay the blocks of a wall. Without the "plumbline," he cannot build a wall. Likewise, without the Spirit of truth putting together the precepts in the word of truth, we cannot have a correct understanding of scripture. A key phrase to note in Isaiah 28:10 is "here a little, and there a little." That is how the Spirit of truth joins the building blocks of the word of God together, forming precepts necessary for our understanding. Paul tells us in this passage of scripture:
1 Corinthians 2:13 "Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual."
The precepts of our understanding of scripture is first and foremost, "not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth." Secondly, it is that which "the Holy Ghost teacheth, comparing spiritual things with spiritual." Man's wisdom CANNOT teach what the Holy Ghost can teach, and what the Holy Ghost teacheth comes in the form of "here a little, and there a little." The way to understand the bible is to compare spiritual things with spiritual, "here a little, and there a little," forming a precept. The minimum count for making a comparison is two.
Matthew 18:20 "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them."
As what I have mentioned, precepts are the building blocks of our understanding of scripture. Jesus tells us in this verse that where “two or three are gathered together,” he (“the truth” in John 14:6) is in our midst. Likewise, where two or three verses from the 66 books of the Holy Bible are found, witnessing one for another, we have the truth from the sure word of God. Precepts are built upon precepts, and precepts upon precepts. That's how we derive our doctrines. Without the "plumbline" guiding us, it is not possible to build an accurate understanding of the word of God. Moreover, Jesus tells us in:
Matthew 7:24-25 "¶ Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock."
Notice a wise man will build his house upon a "rock." In Deuteronomy 32:4, Jesus is our Rock, and in John 1:1, he is the Word. Without the foundation of "the Word," it doesn't matter how carefully one plumbs the line of his building, the end result is that it will still fall. If there is no CERTAINTY in the bible you are reading, it doesn't matter how good a job you do in your bible study, the end result is that you will still fall.
2 Peter 1:19 "We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:"
Do you have a "sure word of prophecy" whereunto you do well if you take heed? Do you have a holy bible that you can be sure that everything it says is 100% true, and that there will be no ambiguity? Doubt was what the Devil introduced in the garden of Eden. When the woman doubted the sure word of God, "But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die," (Genesis 2:17) she brought the fall of the entire mankind. Likewise, this is also what the Devil is doing in our midst to set up the church for a fall, an event which Paul reveals in 2 Thessalonians 2:3 as the "falling away." Modern bible version is key in making that happen.
Excellent! Thank you .
thanks dear brother, the preceding verse’s of Deuteronomy 32: 4 “ He is the Rock, …” show well as you’ve expressed with your insightful study.
Deuteronomy 32: 1-3 “3. Give ear, O ye heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth. 2. My doctrine shall drop as rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass: 3. Because I will publish the name of the Lord: ascribe ye greatness unto our God.”
