The end of the deceived is death
Genesis 15:6 "And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness."
Abraham believed in the LORD and he counted it to him for righteousness. The word "righteousness" has to do with "believed in the LORD."
John 3:16 "¶ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
A born again believer is a righteous person, not righteous by his own virtue, but made righteous because he believeth in the LORD.
2 Peter 2:5 "And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;"
Noah was a "preacher of righteousness," which is to say, righteousness comes in the form of words that can be heard and received in the heart. Therefore, a preacher of righteousness is a preacher of the words of the LORD.
John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
Jesus is both the Word and the words of the LORD. One cannot be decoupled from the other. To preach Jesus is to preach the words of the LORD. To receive Jesus is to receive the words of the LORD. Likewise, to reject the words of the LORD is to reject Jesus.
2 Corinthians 2:17 "For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ."
That is where the Devil comes in with his modern bible versions. That is where the Devil comes in with dispensationalism, decisionism and all his other false doctrines, doctrines that attack the words of the LORD. If the Devil can get you believe in a lie, the lie can get you to where he wants you to be.
2 Corinthians 11:3 "But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ."
The Devil's lie will not be an outright lie. It will be packaged like the truth, and will have the appearance of righteousness. When a lie is received in the heart, it will automatically work to corrupt a person's mind - corrupt him from the simplicity that is in Christ.
Deuteronomy 8:3 "… that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live."
Matthew 4:4 "But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."
Luke 4:4 "And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God."
The eyes are no use when the mind is blind. A corrupted mind cannot comprehend the simplicity that is in Christ (faith in every word of God), and eventually the deceived will depart, little by little, and further and further away from the way, the truth and the life.
James 1:14-15 "But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. 15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death."
The Devil is a serpent. He moves in imperceptible steps. He operates in stages. He knows that a permanent change can only develop by taking one imperceptible step at a time, little by little. Each little change must be layered on top of what already exists and integrally wired to it. That is how he works to permanently change the truth of God into a lie, by taking one imperceptible step at a time. The end of the deceived will be death.
