Why some Christians left the faith
"Some left the Church for the church, others left the church for the Church." ~ Anonymous
Psalms 139:16 "Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them."
Psalms 139:16 tells us that the members of our body are written in a book. Our DNA is a book, and within the DNA is a set of written instructions that would determine the physical characteristics of our body: how we would grow from a single cell, the cell duplicates itself, the cells duplicate themselves, and they began to spread out and form different members of our body.
1 Corinthians 12:20 "But now are they many members, yet but one body."
The members of our physical body is capable of coexisting one with another because, even though they may be diverse one from another, they came from the same DNA. But sometimes, we may come across reports of people who had their kidney transplants but unfortunately, the body began to reject the new set of kidney at some point.
1 Corinthians 12:25 "That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another."
Mismatched organs or organs that are not matched closely enough can trigger a transplant rejection. Our body knows the differences and the immune system will fight against an incompatible transplant, ultimately resulting in its rejection.
1 Corinthians 12:12 "For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ."
Psalms 139:16 is applicable to the members of the body of Christ., as much as it is to the physical body.
1 John 2:19 "They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us."
The words in this verse draws a vivid picture of a transplant rejection. The reason why some Christians left the faith is because they have never believed the gospel on the first place. The gospel was only in their minds, not in their hearts. Their spiritual DNA is not compatible with the DNA in the “book” that God has written. The Holy Bible has become abominable unto them, and they could no longer continue with the people which they call “brethren”. Their faith did not last.
Genesis 6:3 "And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years."
The words of the Lord will strive against an unbelieving heart, even as the immune system will fight against an incompatible transplant. But it is also the person who choose to reject the words of the Lord, having itching ears and a heart that will not endure sound doctrine. Christians who turn away their ears from the truth shall be turned unto fables.
2 Timothy 4:3-4 "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables."
God the Father will remove those Christians from the body of Christ, even as a husbandman who taketh away the branches in the vine that beareth not fruit.
John 15:2 "Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away..."
The Christians which God the Father removed are only Christians in name, but whose heart is far away from the word of God.
Matthew 15:7-9 "Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, 8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. 9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men."
Even though these Christians may honour God with their lips, they teach for doctrine the commandments of men i.e. there was a departure from the word of God.
John 8:31-32 "Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
Those Christians were never born again to begin with, for if they have truly believed in the gospel, they would have faithfully continued in the word, and not turn to the commandments of men. While they may be in the church, they have left the Church.
Please break this down for me Because I don’t understand it:
"Some left the Church for the church, others left the church for the Church." ~ Anonymous
