Consider this verse:
Revelation 3:5 "He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels."
Notice the term "book of life" in this verse? Jesus tells us that "he that overcometh… I will not BLOT OUT his name out of the book of life." That means that there are names in the book of life that Jesus will blot out. Link this to:
1 John 5:4 "For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith."
Therefore, "he that overcometh" in Revelation 3:5 is a reference to born again believers, whose unwavering faith in every word of God is the reason for their victory. That is also to say, Christians without the faith of born again believers are not overcomers. What happen to these Christians? Why would Jesus blot their names out of the book of life? There is a woman in the book of Proverbs that the Holy Bible warns us against.
Proverbs 7:24-27 "¶ Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth. 25 Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths. 26 For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her. 27 Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death."
Many strong men have been slain by her. These are the men whose heart decline to her ways, and went astray in her paths. These are the Christians who have not attended unto the words of the LORD, but go a whoring after the woman, whose house is the way to hell. The bible tells us in this verse:
Ecclesiastes 7:26 "And I find more bitter than death the woman, whose heart is snares and nets, and her hands as bands: whoso pleaseth God shall escape from her; but the sinner shall be taken by her."
This is the woman whose heart is snares and nets, and her hands as bands. What does “snares and nets” sounds like? Like spider webs?
Proverbs 30:28 "The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings' palaces."
The gender of a spider is female according to this verse. King Solomon also tells us that the spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in king's palaces. It is no accident that our brain is a complex network of things, like unto a spider's web. It is also no accident that our brain is protected inside the skull, which is formed by eight pieces of bones fused together.
Ecclesiastes 7:26 "And I find more bitter than death the woman, whose heart is snares and nets, and her hands as bands: whoso pleaseth God shall escape from her; but the sinner shall be taken by her."
The spider is a stealthy predator. She is the woman whose heart is "snares and nets," and her preys are those which have unwittingly walked themselves into the spider webs. Moreover, Solomon also tells us that her victims are sinners. There are sinners who shall escape from her, and there are sinners who shall be taken by her. Their difference is one group of sinners please God, but the other do not. Link this to:
2 Peter 2:20 "For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning."
Notice the word "escape" in this verse? There are Christians who have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, but are later "entangled" therein. The word "entangled" is a vivid description of how an insect got entangled in a spider's web. Likewise, those Christians who will get themselves entangled therein, and are overcome, their latter end will be worse with them than the beginning.
Hebrews 6:4-6 "For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame."
Those would be the Christians who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, and have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come. The writer of Hebrew used the word "fall away" in verse 6 to describe those Christians. Link this to:
Luke 8:13 "They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away."
Moreover, if they shall "fall away," it is IMPOSSIBLE to renew them again unto repentance, seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. Why? Jesus tells us in the parable of the sower that because of the stony ground hearts in those Christians, they could never truly repent. The writer of Hebrews continues:
Hebrews 6:8 "But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned."
Those would be the Christians who instead of bearing fruit, they bear thorns and briers. God has rejected their offerings of sacrifice, and they are nigh unto cursing. Therefore, their latter end is that they shall be "burned" in Hell and the Lake of Fire. Peter continues:
2 Peter 2:21 "For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them."
It is better that they have not known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. Their latter end will be worse with them than the beginning. Peter compares those Christians to dogs who turn to his vomit again:
2 Peter 2:22 "But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire."
This verse is a quote from the book of Proverbs 26:11. Solomon calls those Christians "fools," and they are the ones who after they have escaped from the woman whose heart is snares and nets, and are again entangled therein. These are the Christians whose names used to be found in the book of life, but their latter end will be worse with them than the beginning. The end of those Christians is that Jesus will have their names blotted out of the book of life (Revelation 3:5), and they must eventually die the second death.
good one. Timely for me.
Let me ask you something - having been reborn- is it bad then do you think to look at the number stuff and Gematria? To learn those connections? I mean- in a larger sense is it bad to study what is going on- even tho yah we know? does this make sense? I watch the garbage and I see it - I do live in this “world”-
? Main focus is Bible and God tho for sure.
