“When CT [Critical Text] advocates appeal to an authoritative Bible from their evolutionary text they are functioning as an illusionist. Their infallible Bible is lost in a vaporous philosophical cul-de-sac and they are desperate for others not to possess one either. They believe that the Bible emerged from a “big bang” and then it was lost. Thanks to an evolutionary path which will culminate one day through liberal scholarship it may theoretically reappear in the future, although they do not think so. However, God has promised preservation in the minutiae, and not simply in the main. Although the Bible is not exhaustive in setting forth every detail of the preservation of God’s Words, when and where it speaks, it speaks with God’s authority. This authority does not extend to all competing and contradictory theories of the mode and methodologies of preservation. We should never be tempted to surrender the clear promises of God’s Word (1 Cor 4:6) amidst the capricious waves of textual critical theories.” Paul Ferguson, PRESERVATION OF THE BIBLE
Revelation 22:13 "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last."
Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”
This is Jesus Christ, "the way, the truth, and the life" (John 14:6) whose name is "Faithful and True" (Revelation 19:11).
That which is faithful and true is that which is true in the past, and is true in the present and will be true in the future, and it cannot be changed. That is God and the Word of God. That is the word of truth, the 66 books of the Holy Bible, the same yesterday, today and forever.
Are the words in the bible you are reading, faithful and true?
Is the NIV and other modern bible versions, faithful and true? Consider this example, Psalm 8:3-4, in the NIV:
"When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?" (NIV 1984)
"When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?" (NIV 2011)
Are they the same? Is the NIV "faithful and true"? An honest and good heart (Luke 8:15) will admit the difference, and the wise in heart (Proverbs 16:21) will understand why the difference, and will depart from the evil.
Proverbs 25:2 “It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.”
Does it matter to you? What will be your conclusion? Will you search out the matter as the Bereans which the Bible calls “noble” (Acts 17:10-11)?
Proverbs 8:16 “By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth.”
The context of this verse is about a mystery woman figure by the name of “wisdom”. The Bible tells us in this verse that by her the princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth. The word “nobles” is a reference to “royal”, as in:
1 Peter 2:9 “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:”
Revelation 1:5-6 “And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, 6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Born again believers are a “royal priesthood”, kings and priests unto God, and they are also the children of wisdom.
Luke 7:35 “But wisdom is justified of allher children.”
Wisdom is justified of all her children. The children of wisdom will be wise. It is in their nature to search out a matter.
Proverbs 3:35 “The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.”
The wise is a reference to born again believers. The Bible tells us in this verse that the wise (kings and priests unto God) shall inherit glory, but fools shall inherit shame.
John 5:39 “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.”
This is the Lord Jesus Christ who said it plainly “search the scripture”. Let the 66 books of the Holy Bible reprove you.
Isaiah 34:16 “Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them.”
Proverbs 2:1-5 “My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; 2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; 3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; 4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; 5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.”
Before one search the scriptures, he cannot understand the "fear of the LORD" (Proverbs 1:7). Without the fear of the LORD, he cannot begin to understand spiritual things because the fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge. Without knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ coming from the source of knowledge which is faithful and true, how can one claim to be a born again believer? Peter tells us plainly in:
1 Peter 1:23 “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.”
Knowledge of the incorruptible word of God is a necessary requirement for one to be born again. Apart from the knowledge of salvation from the incorruptible word of God in the 66 books of the Holy Bible, one cannot inherit eternal life. Will you take a gamble at eternity with corruptible bibles (NIV, NKJV, ESV, NASB, etc)?
