Study on Daniel 9:27 "... and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate." (Part 3)
MP3 article voiceover included.
This article continues from where I have left off previously in Study on Daniel 9:27 "… and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate." (Part 2), where I have discussed from scripture the type of mentality that will dominate Christendom in the last days. I've also talked about the collectivist "crab mentality" of churches in the last days which will help perpetuate the "falling away" (Greek: "apostasia") Paul has prophesied in 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4. Going back to:
Daniel 9:27 "And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate."
The "falling away" (Greek: "apostasia") in 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 will happen when apostate churches all over the world shall receive the mark of the beast which the bible has warned us against in Revelation 14:9-11. They literally "fall away" as dead branches from the "true vine" (Jesus Christ). It is going to be a very spectacular event to watch out for, when millions upon millions of Christians all over the world shall voluntarily surrender the temple of their bodies for the mark of the beast in order to retain the privilege to buy or sell like everyone else who likewise, have also received a mark in their right hand or in their foreheads at the behest of the false prophet.
Revelation 13:16-17 "And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: 17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name."
Do you still remember the No-Jab-No-Mall and No-Jab-No-Job policies implemented during the COVID19 health scam? In Singapore alone, 97% of the population had submitted to the government's vaccination mandates. In that sense, there must have been a significant number of Christians who have opted for the COVID vaccines which tampers with our genetic instructions. Moreover, it only took a few short months to get the vaccinated population swell from 0% to 97%. Daniel used the words "overspreading of abominations" to give us a picture of how fast the mark of the beast shall overspread, as a leaven that leaveneth the whole lump. The words to take note in this verse is "even until the consummation." John tells us in this verse:
Revelation 19:7 "Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready."
The meaning of "consummation" is the actualization of a marriage, hence the words "marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready." Therefore, the implicit message in Daniel 9:27 is that the mark of the beast shall continue to overspread until the marriage of the Lamb is come, when the church hath made herself ready. Paul tells us in this verse:
Ephesians 5:23 "For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body."
Christ is the husband of the body of Christ, the church of the living God. He is also the saviour of the body, the invisible kingdom of God on earth. In Revelation 19:7, the Lamb shall return for his wife, when she hath made herself ready. However, we know from Daniel 9:27 that the time of Christ's return is only when the mark of the beast has already been implemented, and is in the process of being overspread throughout the whole earth. Jesus tells us in this passage of scripture:
Matthew 24:15-22 "When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)… 21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened."
The abomination of desolation is that man of sin, the son of perdition of 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 standing in the temple of God via the mark of the beast. Therefore, that was Jesus telling us that when we shall see that “Wicked” of 2 Thessalonians 2:8 stand in the "holy place" (temple of God), it would mark the beginning of a period of great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time. He continues to say that "except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved." The word “saved” does not only mean saved physically from the physical consequences, because the mark of the beast will not only corrupt the flesh, but there will be no forgiveness of sin after a man receives it in his right hand, or in his forehead. Jesus compares the days of his coming to the days of Noah:
Matthew 24:37 "But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be."
Luke 17:26 "And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man."
The bible tells us in Genesis 1:26 that man was made in the image of God. However, during the days of Noah, the genes of mankind were corrupted when the sons of God (fallen angels) took wives of the daughters of men, and they produced giants.
Genesis 6:4 "There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown."
Though born of women, giants were genetically diverse from mankind, their genetic makeup having being altered with the genes of fallen angelic beings. We saw that in David versus Goliath. Goliath was just a remnant of the giants, a distant offspring of the sons of God and the daughters of men. Yet, bodily-wise, he was much bigger and stronger than a normal human being. The bible shows us in:
Genesis 6:11-12 "The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. 12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth."
Recall what Jesus said in Matthew 24:37 that as the days of Noah were, so shall the coming of the Son of man be. We read in Genesis 6:11-12 that the whole earth was corrupt before God, for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. It was the mingling of the seeds of men with the seeds of fallen angels that resulted in the birth of giants. The same thing will also happen when the mark of the beast shall be implemented throughout the whole earth, corrupting the human genetic codes from within, changing mankind into a form of human hybrid.
Genesis 6:13 "And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth."
The end of all flesh is the end of the world. The corruption of the flesh started long before the end of the world in the days of Noah, yet God allowed it to continue until an appointed time. Connect this to what Jesus told us in Matthew 24:22 "… except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened." The mark of the beast too, will corrupt the flesh, and God will allow that to happen until an appointed time, which the bible calls “the end of the world” in:
Matthew 24:3 “And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?”
In Genesis 6, Noah and his family were God's elect on earth during that time. The bible tells us in Genesis 6:9 that Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations. We know from Genesis 9:19 that after God destroyed the world through the great flood, he repopulated the earth using Noah's three sons and their wives: with their pure and uncorrupted genes. So, in the context of Matthew 24:22, God's elect would be the remnants of mankind whose genes remain uncorrupted by the mark of the beast. Just like what he did in Genesis 6:13 "I will destroy them with the earth," God will destroy the earth together with those who have taken the mark of the beast, yet, he will preserve his elect people as did he for Noah and his family.
Matthew 24:13 “But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.”
Just like how Noah and his family endured unto the end to see God’s divine judgment on the world of ungodly men, God’s elect will also endure unto the end to see the blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ (Titus 2:13). Continuing from Matthew 24:22, the next few verses are a stern warning for God’s elect:
Matthew 24:23-26 "Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. 24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. 25 Behold, I have told you before. 26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not."
We know that between the implementation of the mark of the beast and the second coming of Jesus Christ, God's elect people shall go through a period of great tribulation on earth, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. This passage of scripture tell us that the enemy shall attempt to deceive God's elect with the illusion of Christ's return, and Jesus warns us twice to "believe it not." He explains the signs of his coming in the next verse:
Matthew 24:27 "For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be."
The second coming of Jesus Christ will be a very glorious event: as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west. This is confirmed by John in the following verse:
Revelation 1:7 "Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen."
John tells us in this verse that he cometh with clouds, and every eye shall see him: it will be a very glorious event, and not some secret appearance in the desert or in the secret chambers as what Jesus tells us in Matthew 24:26. Are you aware of the secret pre-tribulation rapture doctrine taught in dispensationalism? Dispensationalists believe and teach that Christ shall return secretly to rapture off the gentile church at the onset of the tribulation period, leaving behind the ethnic Jews to go through the seven years of tribulation. Yet, Jesus warned us twice in Matthew 24:23-26 to "believe it not." God's elect cannot be deceived, because Jesus tells us in Matthew 24:24 "… if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect." Unfortunately, those looking forward to a secret pre-tribulation rapture shall be deceived: they shall fall into the snare that the enemy has prepared for them. Jesus continues…
Matthew 24:27-28 "For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together."
The return of Jesus Christ signified that "his wife hath made herself ready" according to Revelation 19:7. It will be a very glorious event, as a lightning that cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west. Verse 28 tells us that there will be a gathering of the people at the return of Jesus Christ. Notice that Jesus used the words "wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered." The carcase is feast for the eagles. This connects to what John tells us in this verse:
Revelation 19:9 "And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God."
The feast is the marriage supper of the Lamb, and the eagles are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. John continues in the following verses:
Revelation 19:17-18 "And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; 18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great."
Notice it is “the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven?” The marriage supper of the Lamb is the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great. Why did Jesus liken God's elect to eagles? Isaiah tells us in this verse:
Isaiah 40:31 "But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."
God's elect are "they that wait upon the LORD," and the bible tells us that the LORD shall renew their strength, so that they shall mount up with wings as eagles. That will happen at the return of Jesus Christ, when the called of God shall gather themselves unto the marriage supper of the Lamb, which will happen at the "consummation" according to Daniel 9:27. Connect Isaiah 40:31 to what Paul tells us in:
1 Corinthians 15:54 "So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory."
The keyword to note here is "death is swallowed up in victory." Death is swallowed up in victory at the return of Jesus Christ, when God's elect shall be transformed bodily, when the corruptible shall put on incorruption, and the mortal shall put on immortality. Hence, they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. The limitations of their physical bodies no longer have any bearing on them. The psalmist tells us in this verse:
Psalms 17:15 “As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.”
The dead in Christ shall wake up from their sleep, and shall be transformed bodily to the likeness of the risen Christ. Do you still remember what Jesus said to the Sadducees, who denied the resurrection, on the resurrection of the dead?
Luke 20:35-36 "But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage: 36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection."
God's elect are the ones accounted worthy to obtain unto immortality at the resurrection of the dead, so that they shall die no more, being equal unto the angels, and are the children of God, being the children of resurrection. That was what Paul was referring to in 1 Corinthians 15:54, that death shall be swallowed up in victory. Isaiah 40:31 tells us that they shall mount up with wings as eagles, and we know from various other passages of scripture that angels have wings. There is also another reference of the phrase "death is swallowed up in victory" in the Old Testament:
Isaiah 25:6-8 "And in this mountain shall the LORD of hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined. 7 And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations. 8 He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it."
The context of this passage of scripture is about a feast that the LORD of hosts shall make unto all people in "this mountain" (mount Zion). It will be a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined. That would be the marriage supper of the Lamb as what John tells us in Revelation 19:17-18 "the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great." In that day, God shall destroy the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations, so that they shall be deceived no more. That is also the day of the resurrection of the dead, when death shall be swallowed up in victory, and God shall wipe away tears from all faces.
Revelation 21:4 "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away."
A day is with the Lord as a thousand years (2 Peter 3:8). The “first resurrection” (Revelation 20:5) will happen at the return of Jesus Christ, but it won’t be another thousand years until God shall create a new heaven and a new earth. It is only then, that God shall wipe away all tears, and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain. For more reading on the thousand years millennial reign, please refer to this post:
A literal 1,000 years reign?
Isn’t it interesting this term “a thousand years” is found exactly 7 times in the 1611 King James Bible?
Prophesying of the resurrection of the dead, Paul tells us in this passage of scripture:
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord."
Notice how Paul describes the order of sequence "the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air," pointing to the day of the Lord he revealed in 1 Thessalonians 5:2. Dispensationalists like to use the term "rapture" to describe the action of how we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with the risen in Christ to meet the Lord in the air. However, they have erred greatly in teaching the sequence of events leading to the rapture, because Jesus tells us in this passage of scripture:
Matthew 24:29-31 "Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other."
Notice that it is "immediately after the tribulation of those days" when the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars of heaven shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shakened. It is only after this event that the "rapture" shall take place, in the order of sequence described by Paul in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, in the day of the Lord at the second coming of Jesus, when he shall raise the dead in Christ with a shout, and with the trump of God, and then we which are remain and alive shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air. In fact, the sequence of events of the resurrection of the dead was also described in the book of Job:
Job 14:7-15 "For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease. 8 Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground; 9 Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant. 10 But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he? 11 As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up: 12 So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep. 13 O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me! 14 If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come. 15 Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands."
Notice the order of sequence is [1] "till the heavens be no more" and then followed by [2] "until thy wrath be past" and finally [3] "thou shalt call, and I will answer thee." We further know from 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 that the "rapture" cannot happen until the dead in Christ be risen, and Jesus has made it clear in Matthew 24:29-31 that the return of Jesus Christ will only happen "immediately after the tribulation of those days," at which point, he shall raise the dead in Christ, and rapture those which are alive and remain unto his coming. The second coming of Jesus will be accompanied by great signs and wonders, like what Job 14:12 tells us "till the heavens be no more," which in the words of Matthew 24:29 "the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken." The next event in the order of sequence is Job 14:13 "until thy wrath be past," and it points to Daniel 9:27 "and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate." To be continued in Part 4.

Have you heard Voddie Baucham’s Revelation series? I think you and Voddie have a lot of common ground on the sequence of end time events. If you haven’t heard it yet, I think you would be blessed and encouraged by it.
